Songs of Sowing & Reaping is the culmination of two years of on-site, creative acoustic-ecological fieldwork on the Maynard family farm in the Narromine Shire, and with those who keep and nurture traditional culture in the Trangie community.  Multi-disciplinary artist, Kim V. Goldsmith slips beneath the vibrating surfaces of the region’s familiar landscapes of the Western Plains, searching for the sonic pulse of life within – as it is now and may be for our future kin.

The works in Songs of Sowing & Reaping hold the movement and sonic memories of the day they were captured, along with the ecological echo of the plains. Entangled in co-dependency, humans and more-than-humans have collaborated on many of the works in this exhibition. Photographer Sally Pittman has also worked with Goldsmith to create a series of portraits of those in the community passing on knowledge of these places.

A PROJECT PUBLICATION WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AT THE OPENINGS.
