Well we did it!
Regional Contemporary Artist Network had our first in the flesh talks. 12 artists from as far afield as Orange, Lithgow, Dubbo and even Natimuk in Western Victoria descended on Kandos to talk about the issues we all faced as artists living and working in the regions. We also had three members of Articulate Project Space in Sydney, Sach Katts from Runway Magazine.
The first part of the morning was spent with the artists introducing themselves and their work. Five minute slide shows and nervous talking gave the group a better understanding of the practices of each member. If you don’t live in the region, you have no idea of how rare and important an opportunity like this is. We cannot just pop around the corner or to catch a bus from Clovelly to Leichhardt to attend an opening or an artist talk. Most artists travelled over two hours…
