How long can one show the same body of work? Due to an opportunity that arose before Christmas, a selection of 34 of my photographic works from the shows held last year at Red Door Gallery and Cudgegong Gallery are showing again in a new exhibition, installed and opened today at the Coo-ee Heritage Centre, Gilgandra. The uniqueness of this space has put a new spin on the works and it almost felt like returning home when I was hanging today. The Coo-ee Heritage Centre was where I held my second solo show in 2006.
I had forgotten about the challenges of hanging on the curved walls in this space. However, the openness of the space, the colour of the ochre walls and the great outlook on to the Castlereagh River make it a minor quirk.
Always with high hopes that I might makes some sales from this show, this is a great regional venue for opportunity purchases. Located on a busy interstate highway with a Visitor Information Centre at the front of the building, it has been a space known to move a bit of work. Time will tell. It’s up til 25 March – so, bring it on!
